Cold in the earth – and the deep snow piled above thee,

爱米丽·勃朗特（1818~1848） 勃朗特三姐妹中的妹妹，以小说《呼啸山庄》著称于世，同时是一位杰出的诗人。她的诗精炼有力，清澈明净，常常带有奇特而强烈的哀惋情调。她的抒情诗则多以其家乡英格兰北部约克郡的野性而粗犷的荒原为背景。爱米丽早逝，作为诗人的诗才是在她去世一个世纪后才得到举世公认，并被认为是英国三大女诗人（另两位是布朗宁夫人和克里丝蒂娜·罗塞蒂）之一。
